I am inspired, by a wonderful woman so full of energy she exhausts me just looking at her....her name is Kim Nguyen Browne and she is the founder of a wonderful network of similarly driven souls who want to make the lives of the people of Vietnam, particularly the children, better.
What makes Kim so inspiring is that she went in search of the birth parents that had to leave her during the Vietnamese War, only to find the orphanage that she was adopted from in need of hands....lots and lots of helping hands. And that is where the Vietnam Volunteer Network was born from.....and that is how I come to be heading to Vietnam – to lend some helping hands in the orphanage, working with these beautiful children on my way to permanently move to Melbourne. So, how much is time worth? Or what would you give to make a difference? |
Me, I’m giving 7 simple days of my time, energy and love to bring the children at Go Vap Orphanage in Hoi Chi Minh City a little bit of comfort, a whole lot of cuddles, hopefully some smiles, and of course, being delivered by me...a little bit of bonkers!
Whilst Kim is full of energy, love, light and laughter.....the world does not revolve on love alone, and the money that I raise here will go towards helping the children at various organisations throughout Vietnam that VVN are engaged with to supply essential operations, medicines, vitamins, and cows.....yes cows.
What about you? I’m asking you for the equivalent of your lunch/coffee money for the week... or how about your cigarette purchases for the week. Not much is it, really?
Unless of course you too want to offer helping hands! Kim will gratefully receive these as well. More helpers make lighter work and these children need interaction, love and human contact....so simple, so easy.
As you can see from the video on this page, for the children in Vietnam who’s lives can be so short of quality time, this means so much. As it does to me. It’s up to you.......because together we can make a difference!
